postpone my shoes at the gate Grandmother postpone her chappals. She bought two coconuts from a vender within the temple yard. We then made our way through a crowd. We went into the temple. The atmosphere here was lovely. Wicks burned bright. Fragrant smoke rose from incense-sticks. Sweet-smelling flowers spread their perfume around. The image of the goddess was splendid. We bowed to it. Grandmother offered the coconuts thereto through a priest. She gave away a few more coins. She then prostrated herself before the goddess.

We said prayers. We bowed once more. We rang the big hanging bell loudly. We came out. We went around the temple variety of times. We returned to the gate. Both my shoes and Grandmother’s chappals had disappeared! We come home barefoot.

The Somnath temple located in prabhas patan neat veraval in saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat, is believed to be the first among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. it's a crucial pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat. Reconstructed several times within the past after repeated destruction by several Muslim invaders and rulers, this temple was reconstructed in Chaulukya kind of Hindu temple architecture and completed in May 1951. The reconstruction was started under the orders of the house Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel and completed after his death.
Last Monday, I visited the someshwar temple with m grandmother. it's a famous temple of lord shiva. We bought some flowers from the seller outside the temple. We went in. The atmosphere inside the temple was very calm and peaceful. There was an enormous shivalinga within the temple. The oil-lamps were burning. The temple was crammed with the sweet fragrance of agarbattis. Grandmother gave the flowers to the priest pradakshina. The priest gave us Prasad. We sat on a bench outside the temple for a few time. Then it had been time for the aarti. We went inside the temple. The air was crammed with the sounds of drums and bells. i used to be happy to spend some quiet moments at the temple.

According to tradition, the Shivalinga in Somnath is one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India, where Shiva is believed to possess appeared as a fiery column of sunshine . The jyotirlingas are taken because the supreme, undivided reality out of which Shiva partly appears. Each of the 12 jyotirlinga sites take the name of a special manifestation of Shiva. in the least these sites, the first image is lingam representing the start less and endless stambha, symbolizing the infinite nature of Shiva. The Somnath temple has been a pilgrimage site from ancient times on account of being a Triveni sangam (three rivers: Kapila, Hiran and Sarasvati). Some, the moon god, is believed to have lost his luster due to a curse, and he bathed in the Sarasvati River at this site to regain it.

We went there and saw darshan there. Then we flipped around it and saw the 51st power Bench. We had lunch at the temple of Umiya Mata. then Umiyama’s history was known. For the creation of the universe the Shive element brought forth the sati. Sati took birth at the house of Daksh prajapati. She married lord Shiva. Daksha organized an enormous Yagna, and to spite Shiva, didn't invite him. Sati still visited that Yagna at her fathers without invitation. She and lord Shiva Were insulted again and unable in touch that Sati jumped into the Yagna pyre and embraced fire. Lord Shiva became very angry and carrying the body of Sati on his shoulders, he started the Tandav. the whole world shook and panicked. to save lots of the planet , Lord Vishnu cut the body of Sati into 51 parts together with his Sudarshan Chakra and wherever these parts fell, a Shaktipeeth was established.

Before jumping into the Yagna pyre, Sati had wished to marry lord Shiva within the next birth also. After the death of Sati Lord Shiva became a hermit. The Tarkasur demon was terrorizing the planet . He got the boon from Brahmaji that he are often killed only by the son of Shiva. Gods got Lord Shiva able to remarry. Sati took second birth at Maina and Himalayas house and came to be referred to as Parvati-Uma. After very arduous meditation she got married to Shiva. Their son Kartik destroyed Tarkasur.
